shows amazing promise

this is just seeping with talent...STOP WAISTING YOUR TIME WITH STICK FIGURES!
Seriously...youve got the skillz. Use real models for animation. stick figures detract heavilly from the potential here

WX responds:

Don't worry, i will not use sticks after i finish the full version of DE_dust. Thanks anyways!

just...perfect

thats all there is to it. This is perfect. Short, heartwarming, well animated, flows beatifully, and theres an interactive element, plus easter eggs
well done. very, very well done.

oh...I found the hidden clothes, made the screen hand-drawn, moved the torch (was that intentional?), and made that horrible piano sound...I miss anything?

gel responds:

Thanks, perfect is hard to come by!

Yes the moving torch is intentional. You only missed the one everyone seems to have missed (at least they didn't mention they found it). It's a keyboard easter egg. Good luck!

quite nice

the animation is getting there! keep up the good work. The voices were a damned good attempt, and the idea was quite nice.
Oh...and you should know that Traekwon is not Weaksauce's character...im rather sure he belongs to olskoo. Nice to see tributes to a friend ^^

TheOtherTruth responds:

Thank you for the review

And thank you for the Traekwon heads up.

I really do like the Weaksauce portrayal of Traekwon. The quiet, tough right hand man who doesn't ask questions and can always be counted on!

gave me a grin

but the reasons that its being protected are shameful...if the people dont like it, it can die...If Tom wants it protected, then why not just say he likes it, instead of obligating the rest of the users to adjust their tastes to match his...

cornbeef responds:

i dont know man. i just dont know. im glad it made u grin tho :)

this has potential...

you have a story, and it holds attention even though it relies on violence, like so much else out there. The biggest problem is the art. The art needs serious work. Fewer gradiants, characters need to look a little less flat. The previous review (talking about childrens drawings going at it) isnt that far off, but he was a little harsh. Art needs work, animation could stand to be better, but the standards here are low, and what you can do is plenty good for the movie you making. Art my friend...get some mood to go with the story, and dont work with the first draft you got when drawing the characters out.

mmark-oldflash responds:

What do you mean mood to go with the story? There is a mood. The mood is a dark atmosphere of post-apocalyptic midevil times set against the view point of a mage. If you can't see past critically-acclaimed terrible art and animation to a gripping story, I really don't know what to say. After all, I'm not even out of High School, worked on this all by myself and provided all the voice work within a limited amount of time. I think that's pretty damn. So how about showing some appreciation for someone who actually threw some shows with a plot into the NG stew?

exellent work from every perspective

aside from originality. but who cares...you dont do a flash about someone elses characters fighting when your aiming for something original =p.
Oh, and for the DBZ thing...im not sure how old DBZ is, but super sonic is over 10 years old...I think the idea was in segas hands for about a year (though Im unsure of this) before being featured in the comics issue #4, published in november of 1993, though he may have been in a game before that.(anyone know the release of sonic3? he was in that, wasnt he?)...though no matter who was first, the modern versions of him do kinna rip DBZ off...but then again, everything rips off everything else in some way, some more blatantly than others.

BritishGolgo13 responds:

Thank you! However, DBZ began airing in April 1989. This would place episode 80 (first one with Super Saiya-jin) somewhere around mid 1990. Sonic 2 (first game featuring Super Sonic) was released in November 1992. Plenty of time for Sega to pose Akira Toriyama's work. So please stop debating about this issue (for future ppl).

ugh...

dont release a preview for a simple sprite animation...you release previews for movies that show a huge amount of effort and take months to compile, or for sequels...not ten second sprite flicks about sonic having sex with amy. oh, sounds good cuz I love that song =p

AlterEgo-Production responds:

oh sounds good cause i fucked your mom you little prick bag!

yay! stick figures!

yay! comercials! yay! repeating backgrounds! yay! bad animation! yay! dance! in french! Danse!

KoRRupt responds:

Yea.. looking back.. nothing really to see here..

This proves one thing...

...that youre at the point where an animation will be as good as the time you;re willing to put into it. It whent through phases of perfection and absolute crap. Try working on a smaller scale, then work up into one piece...this is a very good job done, but it looks rushed in places

SickDeathFiend responds:

You are correct, some spots are rushed and others are not.If I put all my effort into every scene, It would take to long to finish DeadRain.. thanks for the review!

My camera sucks, so I resort to cheap photoshop tricks. Sheer Genius.
